RetirementsMike Hecker, Jones Bank | Seward, recently retired after 41 years with the bank. An open house will be held on June 30 to celebrate his many years of service to Nebraska's banking industry. (pictured) Dennis Siedel, Jones Bank | Valparaiso, will retire at the end of June after 50 years of service to the bank. He most recently was the senior vice president at Jones Bank in Valparaiso, the Valparaiso Insurance Agency and Oak Creek Valley Bank. Citizens State Bank | Newman Grove, broke ground on a new drive-through window on June 12. Cornerstone Bank | York, sponsored the Eight-Man Hall of Fame, celebrating the history, continued growth, and achievement of Nebraska's eight-man football. Elkhorn Valley Bank & Trust | Pierce, Norfolk, Wayne and Yankton, held customer appreciation celebrations in each community throughout the past week. The events included refreshments and $80 raffles. Farmers and Merchants Bank | Milligan, celebrated its 120th anniversary on June 15. Flatwater Bank | Gothenburg, and Homestead Bank | Cozad, and other local businesses were sponsors for the Platte Valley Tailwinds hot air balloon event on June 16-18 at the Cozad Municipal Airport. The three-day event included live music, an outdoor cookout, a car show cruise night, an airplane fly-in, a champagne brunch and a balloon flight. Foundation One Bank | Waterloo, donated $1,000 to Waterloo Fire and Rescue. Brent Ruch, F&M Bank | South Sioux City, recently celebrated his 20th anniversary with the bank. He is a vice president. Roy Stewart, Sandhills State Bank | Bassett, was inducted into the Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame during the annual induction ceremony on June 10 in Valentine. He has been involved in many aspects of his community and is known as a devoted cowboy and conservationist. He served as the director of Commercial Bank, now Sandhills State Bank, for eight years. Banks in the NewsCommercial State Bank | Nebraska City, recently awarded two $500 scholarships to students from Nebraska City High School and Nebraska City Lourdes who will be attending UNL in the fall. Boys (and Girls) State is designed to provide Nebraska youth with a better understanding of how city, county and state government works. Jones Bank | Valparaiso, sponsored a watermelon feed during "Val Days," the community festival for Valparaiso, that was held this past weekend. This year was the 20th anniversary of the event. State Nebraska Bank & Trust | Wayne, recently awarded scholarships totaling over $15,000 to five area high school graduates. Three students received the SNB Community Scholarship, which covers full tuition for their freshman year at Wayne State College. The other two students each received a $1,000 SNB FFA Scholarship. WCB | Blair, opened a new branch in Missouri Valley, Iowa, on May 22, with a grand opening ceremony scheduled for June 12.
