(pictured) First Interstate Bank | Lincoln, donated $25,000 to Aiding Angels as part of the bank's "Believe in Local" grant campaign. Aiding Angels provides free cleaning services to individuals undergoing cancer treatment and those who are in hospice care due to cancer. Nebraska Bank | Hickman, teamed up with Hacienda Jalisco Bar & Grill to host a Tailgate for Teachers. Around 350 attendees raised $2,255.11 to help Norris Elementary and Intermediate teachers purchase classroom supplies. Banks in the NewsFirst Bank & Trust of Fullerton | Fullerton, donated $10,000 to the Nebraska Community Foundation's Margaret Russell Trust Donor Advised Fund. The donation will be used for the expansion of the Nance County Veterans Memorial and Resource Center. (pictured) First Nebraska Bank | Elkhorn, hosted a community blood drive on Sept. 20 to help alleviate the national blood shortage. Flatwater Bank | Brady and Gothenburg, held ribbon-cutting ceremonies to celebrate the grand opening of two new in-school savings banks at Brady Elementary in Brady and Dudley Elementary in Gothenburg. The tournament raised $1,200 for Angels Among Us, an organization that provides financial support to families with children battling cancer in Nebraska. The bank held a "Business After Hours" event on Sept. 15 and a ribbon cutting with the Grand Island Chamber of Commerce. Cornerstone Bank | Sutton, hosted a grand opening ceremony on Sept. 15 to celebrate the reopening of the branch at 101 W. Elm Street in Sutton following repairs to damage caused by a tornado. Elkhorn Valley Bank & Trust | Wayne, donated $100,000 to the Athletic & Recreation Complex Renovation & Addition Project at Wayne State College. FirsTier Bank | Holdrege, hosted an open house on Sept. 15 to celebrate the bank's 60th anniversary of service to the community. He had previously worked at Burt County State Bank, now Washington County Bank, and later at First National Northeast Bank until his retirement at age 83. Andrew Svendgard, Jr. (age 86) | Fremont, passed away on Sept. 8. He was hired as a teller in 1966 at Arlington State Bank, which later became Two Rivers Bank and is now RVR Bank, and worked his way up to president in 1974. The estimated completion date has not been announced. Cornhusker Bank | Lincoln, reached its 120th anniversary of service to Nebraska communities. To celebrate, the bank held a week of customer appreciation activities from Aug. 19-25. NebraskaLand Bank | North Platte, and other local businesses helped sponsor the International Bazaar on Aug. 20 in North Platte. The event helped foster an environment of understanding, acceptance and collaboration among the diverse population within the greater North Platte and Lincoln County areas.
